Seeing his childhood through his dad’s particular filter turned

his sister out.”

“Why would you help her out? I don’t see the connection.”

Peter’s cheeks stained darker. “I had a thing with her boss once.

He asked me to go check on Sean as a favor.”

Come to think of it, that was what Theo had asked. He’d said that

Maggie was worried sick, not that Maggie wanted her share of the

estate, and fuck the consequences. Peter rubbed his face with his hands,

then pushed his plate to one side and rested his hot cheek on the cool
